The Situation

Headquartered in Downey, California, SST International is a global leader in the development and application of microelectronic package assembly equipment and technology. SST's team of leading engineers and technologists are constantly advancing the state-of-the-art in microelectronic package assembly techniques, processes and equipment. They currently seek a talented Mechanical Design Engineer.

The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer will conceptualize, design and test intricate tooling components for specific customer applications for SST Furnaces. The position will involve layout and detailing of intricate mechanical designs utilizing 2D and 3D CAD Systems, Customer Interface and interaction with SST's manufacturing team and laboratory testing of tooling designs with customer components. Additionally, this position will require an element of creativity and exposes the engineer to new applications and processes.

SST International designs and manufactures vacuum/pressure furnaces for use in microelectronic assembly processes. Established in 1978, SST is a world-wide leader in flux-free, void-free soldering of high reliability components used in automotive, medical, telecommunications, semiconductor, aerospace, and defense industries.

The Ideal Candidate

The selected individual will have a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent experience, as well as 10+ years of mechanical design experience. The position requires strong verbal and written communications skills, including project documentation and technical writing, extensive CAD experience a must and proficiency using Anvil-1000MD and Pro Engineer (Pro E) required. A familiarity with manufacturing processes as they apply to "Design for manufacturability" is desired.
