Sr. Programmer Analyst

The Opportunity
Paramount Pictures' IT division
in Hollywood, Ca. has an immediate opening for a Senior Programmer
Analyst working in our Digital Asset Management department. You
will be part of a newly formed development team with matrixed
responsibilities to different IT departments and having an exposure
across multiple business units - marketing, publicity, legal,
etc. - providing a unique opportunity to see many of the varied
aspects of film making and the entertainment industry.
This position will be a key resource
creating solutions to address core business and technical issues.
You will be responsible for the analysis, design, development,
implementation, and production support of custom and package system
solutions.
The Company
One of the original major motion
picture studios, Paramount Pictures has been a leading producer
and distributor of feature films since 1912. Its 2,500-plus title
library boasts Oscar winners Braveheart and Forrest Gump, and
Titanic (the highest-grossing motion picture of all time) -- as
well as such classics as The Ten Commandments, Breakfast at Tiffany's
and Sunset Boulevard. In addition, several of the most successful
franchises in film history, including Mission: Impossible, Star
Trek, The Godfather and Indiana Jones, are part of the Paramount
Pictures library. Paramount also co-produces films with Nickelodeon
Movies and MTV Films, utilizing their expertise with specific
audiences.
In choosing films to produce,
Paramount aims to create a carefully balanced film slate that
represents a variety of genres, styles, and levels of investment-with
the goal of creating entertainment with worldwide appeal. Paramount
Pictures distributes its motion pictures on video and DVD in more
than 45 countries worldwide through Paramount Home Entertainment.
Responsibilities
- Identify and analyze business
requirements and processes
- Evaluate and customize package
applications per business requirements and best practice recommendations
- Recommend and implement technical
solutions for addressing business requirements and process reengineering
- Manage all application activities
related to system upgrades and migrations
- Provide daily production support
to business units
- Develop relevant documentation
including project plans, functional and technical specifications,
test plans, and user training materials
- Adhere to all programming standards
as defined in the IT System Development Life Cycle
- Conduct meetings and presentations
with the end users and internal IT departments
- Function collaboratively as
part of a fast-paced, customer oriented team and perform effectively
as an independent producer under broad management direction.
Qualifications
- Experience in both application
and database design.
- Required experience with development
architectures must include:
- .NET - 2 years minimum
- J2EE - 2 years minimum
- Front-end programming experience
must include:
- HTML JSP, Java Script and ASP
- Middle tier skills will include
atleast one of the following:
- JBOSS, WebSphere, WebLogic
- Strength in relational databases
modeling is required, including stored procedures, triggers,
etc.
- Oracle is preferred, but will
consider strong SQL or Sybase experience.
- Application framework experience
with Struts or String is highly desirable.
- Digital Asset Management business
systems experience is preferred but is not essential.
- Solid experience in a systems
development methodology including conceptual, logical and physical
design.
- Superior communication skills
in working with technical and non-technical people and the ability
to develop and maintain collaborative relationships among all
levels of an organization.
- Ability to work effectively
in a team based environment and a demonstrated willingness to
support team on all levels to get the job done.
- Able to manage multiple projects
and be capable of working in an environment where work priorities
can change rapidly.
- Ability to document work effectively
at both the technical and user level.

- Excellent organizational and
project management skills are required.
Other information
The hours are 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
The position may require longer hours depending on the workload.
You will work on site at the studio lot; minimal travel might
be involved.
