The Situation

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, Chief Information Office, has an opportunity for an experienced professional to join them as an Information Systems Specialist I, Sr. IT Project Manager at their facility located in Alhambra.

The Position

The Information Systems Specialist I, Sr. IT Project Manager is a non-represented, exempt class responsible for monitoring the work of project teams and acting as consultant to project managers, departmental management, and user management in a highly specialized field of information technology.

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer, Public Works (CIO).

The Company

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works serves over nine million residents in LA County, which covers 4,083 square miles. The Department's annual budget is $1.2 billion and there are approximately 4,100 budgeted staff positions.

The Ideal Candidate

Will have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, from an accredited college or university with a BA/BS degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field with a minimum of 12 technology-related credits. PMI certification will be a plus.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of four years' experience within the last six years managing the development and implementation of large and complex IT projects. Also, you must have experience in managing an implementation of IT projects in a web or client/server environment with a budget of $1 million each.

He or she will have excellent communication skills, writing skills and people skills.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer for Public Works, this position offers the opportunity to act in a senior analytical consultant role to project managers, departmental management and user management to implement and maintain the Department's IT Strategic Plan. In this position you will get broad exposure to a variety of LA County departments.

The Compensation

The salary range for this position is $82,285 - $102,219. There is also an excellent benefits package including the Megaflex Benefits Plan; Retirement Plan; Deferred Compensation Plan; Health Care and Dependent Care Spending Accounts, 4/40 workweek, 80 hours of annual leave and Holidays.
